About the Blog

This site is about how we design technology. It covers the basics of human-centered design, taking a detour into what this means and why anyone would care. It tries to strike a happy (😉) medium between IT design methods:

IT specification is based on defining what you need in advance. This is doomed to fail, but we do it anyway because without this definition, we have no goals

… and “agile” design approaches, which abandon all hope of a method :

Agile design methods are, at best, wing-it until your users are no longer screaming that’s not what they need, or at worst, suck-it-and-see iterations around some technician’s concept of a “minimum viable product” that never considers the user at all.

I’m going to explore some of these ideas – and what we can do instead!
